Archive for February, 2013

On Saturday 23rd February we were joined by the staff and alpacas from Woodbine Farm Alpacas.  The day started with a short talk to give us an understanding of what it takes to keep alpacas in the UK.  We were then treated to a meeting with the alpacas themselves.  Head over to the Photo Gallery to see just how cute they were!

This year’s CUVZS Symposium (In Situ Conservation: At Home and Abroad) brought some of the finest speakers in the veterinary zoological world to Cambridge for a weekend of  practicals, debates and talks!  This year’s symposium dinner was held at Pembroke college and delivered a fantastic end to Saturday’s events.

Things were very touch and go with a blizzard sweeping across the country and putting many people’s travel plans into jeopardy.  Thankfully, we managed to achieve an (almost) full contingent of speakers and the vast majority of our delegates made it down to Cambridge for the weekend.

We on the CUVZS Committee hope you all had a fantastic weekend and hope to see you again in the future.  Photos from the weekend can be found over in the Photo Gallery!

One of our scheduled speakers for this term, Dr. David Taylor, sadly passed away recently.

His talk scheduled for the 19th of February is obviously cancelled and we will let you know if we have a replacement speaker.

Best wishes,

The CUVZS Committee
