This week’s CUVZS talk will be “How can we stem the tide of unsuitable pets?”, by Alan Hewitt from Morley Exotic Animal Rescue.

“I will be basing the talk around the governments review into pet ownership where the emphasis was on exotic pets, and the potential proposals discussed to limit or license ownership. Some incredible facts were revealed and a huge array of arguments at the recent All Party Parliamentary Group on Animal Welfare meeting at the House of Commons. I was present as a member of the group and took part and this is the first step towards future legislation. In essence then I will discuss the moral and ethical debate and the probable proposed legislation, and its impact on the animal and pet industries. I am looking forward to it and I expect lively disagreement among those attending, just as there was in parliament!”.

Alan will also be bringing along a skunk and a giant python from the centre, so there will be LIVE ANIMALS (just in case you needed any more convincing!)

As always, the talk starts at 6:30pm (6:15 for cake), free for members/£1 for non-members.
