Wildlife Emergency Care: Les Stocker
Les is the founder of the Wildlife Hospital Trust (aka St Tiggywinkles), one of the world’s busiest wildlife hospitals. Many wildlife cases are brought into small animal practices across the UK so this talk will be valuable a wide audience.

ALPACA DAY!
10:30am SEMINAR ROOMS, Pathology building: alpaca talk
11:30am-1pm, indoor riding school: alpaca handling session
The well anticipated Alpaca Day will feature 2 parts: a talk with lots of interesting information on alpacas and alpaca farming and a live animal handling session to get some hands on experience of examining these amazing creatures!
Talk admission will be free for CUVZS members (you can buy your yearly membership on the door) or £1 for non-members
The handling session and talk combined will be £4 for members and £6 for non-members
Due to restraints to number of alpacas that can be brought to the vet school, the handling session will be limited to 20 places, so if you’re keen you’ll have to be quick off the mark! Email cuvzsenquiries@gmail.com when tickets come out on FRIDAY 7th OCTOBER at 6pm. The first 20 people to do so will get the places and will be notified by email. Cheques must be made payable to CUVZS and posted by Fri October 14th to EMMA YOUNGS either in her pigeonhole at Pembroke or at the vet school.

“From cats, dogs and cows… to tigers, wolves and wilderbeest” by zoo vet Jane Hopper (Howlett and Port Lympe Wild Animal Park)
CUVZS present the final talk of Lent Term and it’s set to be a good one with INTERACTIVE handsets and the return of a PAST CUVZS PRESIDENT from the year 2000. Come along to take part in an interactive talk by applying your knowledge on dogs, cats, cows and other domestic animals to their wilder equivalents including wolves, tigers and wildebeest!
This will be the final talk organised by the CUVZS committee 2010-2011, and at the end of the talk we will welcome in the new CUVZS committee 2011-2012.

“Raptor Morning” with Flight of the Falcon
Want some practical experience with raptors? Flight of the Falcon have kindly agreed to bring along some of their birds of prey for a talk in LT2 at the vet school followed by a practical hands on session with birds of prey in the indoor riding school.
Tickets are just £5 and there are only 30 spaces available! Tickets are now available for CUVZS members until Wednesday 16th February, after which the ticket sales will be opened to everyone on a first come first served basis.
To buy your ticket, simply write out a cheque for £5 payable to “CUVZS” and put it in Thom Jenkins’ pigeonhole at the vet school.

Due to a growing trend for backyard poultry pets, these birds (normally in cat baskets/cardboard boxes) are now a common sight in vet practice waiting rooms. Come along to hear about how to handle these species in your consult room and the common problems that you are likely to be confronted with.
Victoria Roberts is an honorary vet to the Poultry Club, has published 3 books on poultry and has over 36 years experience of breeding and judging exhibition poultry and waterfowl. She is also currently President of the British Veterinary Zoological Society so it’s a great honour to have her speak to us.
