This week CFAVS and CUVZS have teamed up to bring you DEER WEEK! Our talk tommorow (27th November) will given by Dr John Fletcher – a vet with a huge amount of experience working with deer. You can find out more about him here.

As usual, the talk starts at 6:30 in LT2 at the vet school(6:15 for cake!).

This week’s talk will be given by John Chitty will be talking to us about the three A’s of avian medicine.

John qualified from the RVC in 1990 and now works for Anton Vets. He has gained a RCVS certificate in Zoological Medicine and has a huge amount of experience in exotics practice (read more here). He’ll be talking to us about avain anaesthesia and raptor aspergillosis. This looks like a really great talk, especially if you’re interested in going into exotics practice.

6:30 in LT2 (6:15 for cake), free for members and £1 for non-members.

Next Saturday (21st) we will be running a rabbit surgery practical. This will be a great chance to practice basic surgeries like spaying and castration on some dead specimens. So if you’re interested in exotics, or just want to go into small animal practice, this will be a great opportunity to improve your surgical skills!

The practical will be run by Iain Cope from Cambridge Veterinary Group. There are 24 places available – booking will open on Saturday 14th from 4pm for members, and for non-members from 6pm. The practical will be held on Saturday afternoon from 2 – 4pm and will be FREE for members/£4 for non-members.

We’ve had a slight change to the advertised talk schedule this week! Final year Sue White will be talking to us about ferrets – she’s even bringing in her ferrets so we can practise handling! This should be a great talk – including housing, feeding and behaviour, as well as some of the more common reasons why you might be presented with a ferret in practice. And there will be real live animals!

Talk starts at 6.30pm in Lecture Theatre 2 the vet school (come at 6:15 for cake!). Entry is free for members and £1 for non-members.

If your card won’t give you access to the vet school or if you get lost, ring 07796280776 and we can come and rescue you!
